Silence of Mind
The ultimate status symbol nowadays are not expensive cars. Neither they are expensive smartphones, luxury weddings, etc. The status symbol that is ultimate for our generation is also the ultimate power that can be gifted to us. It is the ‘silence of mind’. To cultivate the silence of mind, we need to rationally delve within the recesses of our own mind to find something that is substantial and precious in our being. Technology cripples us. Social media draws our attention while peer pressure drives us further away from achieving the purpose of our life. It is interesting to note that the founder of Meta, the conglomerate of which Facebook is a part, does not have a Facebook account which he manages on the personal level. Neither did he allow his children have one till they reached an age of maturity. The who’s who in the world today knows that to rule the world they have to keep the masses distracted while not being distracted themselves. Thus, we are forced unknowingly into a slavery of gadgets and societal expectations. There is a hormone in human beings known as the dopamine hormone. Its secretion creates satisfaction in individuals. Interestingly, its secretion can be manipulated and all the multinationals know it. So, when someone reacts to your WhatsApp status, your dopamine secretion creates a false sense of satisfaction in you. The post-modern world is replete with all such traps and sinister tools which guards us from our true self-knowledge. The author wants his reader to for once question this entire system of falsities. Not outwardly revolting, one can reach a firm ground of solace by self-introspection. The result of this is a profound understanding of the hidden forces of nature and life. Any action that springs forth from such understanding is bound to be sane. This basic sanity ushers in an era of further fulfilment. From such a standpoint, when one participates in the activities of his daily life, he is rewarded with peace and success. The energy of money also flows in effortlessly in accordance with the wish of the universe. It’s better to put forth such existential questions to oneself as early as possible in life. It’s a dull mind that searches, and the particularly dull ones search late. When one’s entire being is full of light, one can call off the search.
