ANNUAL CONVOCATION 2019

The Annual Convocation of Techno India University, West Bengal was a historic and grand occasion that established new dimensions of success and inspiration for the students and the society. The ceremony was graced by Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India, as the Chief Guest along with the Governor of West Bengal, Shri Kesari Nath Tripathi as Guest-of-Honour and Padma Shree Professor Bimal Roy on the same dais.


The ceremony was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp and followed by our National Anthem in the august gathering of thousands of students and eminent personalities. The convocation speech was addressed by the honorable Chief Guest, Shri Pranab Mukherjee where he emphasized on the need for our education system to re-orient the students to become "risk-takers and innovation makers" and propel the nation towards glory.

The ceremony was presided over by a host of dignitaries including the Directors of IIT-Kharagpur, ISI-Kolkata, NIT-Durgapur, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST)-SERB along with the Chancellor, Co-Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor on the same dais.

The University made history by announcing a Merit Scholarship scheme named after Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee under which two meritorious students from the underprivileged background will be provided to study free of cost at the undergraduate level. The certificate-of-merit with the replica of his signature was inaugurated in the eminent presence of Shri Mukherjee.

Over 1400 students have been awarded their degrees along with recipients of gold, silver and bronze medals at the annual convocation. On this occasion, D. Litt was awarded to Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee (former Head of the Department of Medicine in Calcutta Medical College & Hospital, current Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee in State Health Department), Dr. Sparshamoni Chatterjee (former Vice-Chancellor, BESU, Shibpur), famous Hindustani classical vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and Dr. Bibek Debroy (Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister) to honour and celebrate their unparalleled accomplishments in their respective fields.

It was a celebrated occasion of congregation of dignitaries and eminent professors & academicians from Jadavpur University, IIEST Shibpur, Calcutta University, Presidency University and other research institutes of repute. Over 3000 students, guardians, guests witnessed this jubilant moment of success and achievement of Techno India University. All the Directors of Techno India Group, the Controller of Examinations, all Faculties and Staffs were also present to congratulate and encourage the students on their success and being part of this historic occasion for Techno India University.

Novel mutations in Covid 19 genome and its impact on healthcare management

RNA viruses are characterized by a higher rate of mutation than their hosts. The SARS CoV 2 is no exception. Most viral mutations have little to no impact on the virus’s infectivity.
